Timber moves, settles and responds to the seasons. It is what makes it beautiful, and it is why we stand behind every window and door we fit. If something is not working as it should, however small, we are on hand to put it right.
Every job we complete is covered, in writing.
Guarantee periods apply from the date of completion and are subject to reasonable use and the care guidance below. Full terms are set out in your project paperwork. If you are unsure what applies to your job, get in touch and we will confirm.
A little care keeps timber windows working beautifully for decades.
New timber and paint need a few weeks to acclimatise. A sash may feel slightly firm at first as the finish cures. This eases with use and is not a fault.
Raise and lower sashes evenly with both hands where you can. On box sashes, use the lift handles rather than pushing on the glazing bars or the glass itself.
Condensation on the glass is a sign of room humidity, not a window fault. Ventilate, especially in kitchens and bathrooms, and wipe frames dry to protect the finish.
Wipe frames with a soft, damp cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid solvents, abrasives and pressure washers, which damage the microporous paint film.
Check that the small drainage slots along the bottom of cills and frames stay free of dust and debris, so water always has somewhere to go.
A factory finish lasts many years, but exposed elevations weather faster. When the time comes, a light sand and recoat protects the timber. We are happy to advise, see sash window painting.
