A comprehensive upgrade of 26 sash windows across an elegant seventh-floor period apartment, delivered with Kea Developments and Rossco.
Kensington Court Mansions is a substantial mansion block in W8. The apartment sits on the seventh floor, and every window in it needed attention. We worked closely with Kea Developments and Rossco throughout.
New traditional-style sash windows were manufactured to match the originals. Where the box frames were sound, we stripped them back to bare timber, refurbished them fully, and fitted slimline double-glazed sashes into the restored openings. Windows requiring only minor works were draughtproofed and redecorated rather than replaced.
The stained glass units were supplied by Annahita Hessami at Cut Glass Studio, and set into the new sashes with the leading and colour of the originals carried through.
Two constraints shaped the programme. Every room took a different paint finish, specified in Benjamin Moore Scuff-X, so the sequencing had to follow the decorator rather than the joiner. And there is no lift access to the seventh floor: twenty-six windows, and every sash, frame section and pane went up the stairs.
